When creating a Gmail account, you also get a lot of online storage space on Google servers to keep almost all of your emails, so there is no need to download the messages you receive from your Gmail account to your computer, not to archive them.
However, there are many other ways that you can access Gmail accounts in Outlook Express. You can write your messages and responses using all the comfort of Outlook Express, for example. You can even use stationery to beautify your notes while copies of the mail you send online are automatically archived in the Sent Mail folder in Gmail.
